Privacy Policy

Introduction

Learn Hebrew – Read & Speak (also referred to as HebrewEdu or AlefBet Tutor), developed by VIKTOR SOKOLIUK ("we", "our", or "us"), respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you use our mobile application distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store. Practices may differ depending on the platform and app version.

1. Information We Handle

The App does not require an account, login, or social login. We do not intentionally ask you to provide your name, email address, or other profile information in the current app. Local app preferences and learning state may be stored on your device where applicable and are not shared with other users by us.

The App communicates with the HebrewEdu backend to retrieve educational and app data. When these services are used, technical and network information necessary to provide, secure, and troubleshoot the service may be processed by the relevant service providers.

Both the Android and iOS apps use Firebase, a third-party service provided by Google, including Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) for anonymous usage statistics that help us understand how the App is used and improve it. This may include an app instance ID, usage events (such as screens viewed, lessons, quizzes, and purchases with product and price), device and app version, and approximate location derived from IP address. We do not send names, email addresses, or text you type to Firebase Analytics. On iOS, the App uses the Firebase Analytics variant without access to the advertising identifier (IDFA), and ad personalization signals are turned off. On Android, Firebase may also be used for functions such as crash reporting or remote configuration, and word explanations may be processed via Firebase Cloud Functions. On iOS, the App also includes Firebase Core. Firebase may process information in accordance with Firebase's Privacy Policy.

Where the word-explanation feature is available, when you request an explanation, the word or text you submit and technical request data (such as IP address) are sent to our HebrewEdu backend (api.hebrewedu.com), which uses the OpenAI API to generate the explanation. Explanations may be cached on our server, so repeated requests for the same word do not reach OpenAI. OpenAI processes the request text as a service provider under its API terms and policies. We do not send account data or anything that identifies you by name. Please do not include personal information in text you submit.

For Premium subscriptions, RevenueCat is used as a third-party subscription-management service to support entitlement status and restoration. Depending on the platform and transaction, RevenueCat may process purchase or subscription status, app-specific identifiers and technical information, and related transaction information necessary for these functions. RevenueCat does not receive payment-card details from us. Apple or Google Play handles payment credentials and store billing for purchases made through its store.

The current iOS app does not request access to location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, Bluetooth, motion, speech recognition, or pasteboard data.

2. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of the App shows Google AdMob rewarded ads only — no banner or interstitial ads. Ads are opt-in: an ad is shown only when you tap "Watch ad" to receive a reward, such as extra daily attempts, extra quiz retries, or in-app coins. Premium subscribers are not shown ads; on iOS, the ads SDK is not started for verified Premium users.

When ads are requested or shown, Google may process device and advertising identifiers (such as IDFA, IDFV, or the Android Advertising ID), IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, and ad interaction and diagnostic data. This information is used to serve and measure ads, limit how often ads are shown, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where you have consented. 3. Consent and Your Privacy Choices

The App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage advertising consent. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will see a consent form before any ad is requested. If you decline consent, only non-personalized ads may be shown.

• iOS: You can change your choice at any time via the "Privacy choices" link at the bottom of the Premium screen.
• Android: There is currently no in-app setting for this. You can change your choice by clearing the App's data, by reinstalling the App, or by contacting us.

App Tracking Transparency (iOS): The iOS app does not ask for permission to track you and does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA). As a result, ads may be less personalized.

4. Data Retention and Security

Local preferences and learning data remain on your device until you delete them, remove the App, or the App changes how that data is stored. Information processed by backend, subscription, advertising, AI, or store providers is retained according to the providers' practices and as needed to provide, secure, and administer their services. We use reasonable measures intended to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that such information was provided to us, we will take reasonable steps to delete it promptly.

6. Data Deletion Rights

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data that we control, subject to applicable law. Because the App does not require an account and much of its learning data is stored locally, you can also remove local data by deleting the App or using available device/app controls. 7. Users in the EEA and UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the following applies in addition to the rest of this Policy.

• Legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the App and Premium); consent (personalized advertising); legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, non-personalized ads, providing word explanations you request, and analytics to improve the App).
• Your rights: you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and data portability, and you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Contact us by email to exercise these rights.
• Complaints: you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work.
• International transfers: our service providers (Google, including Firebase and AdMob; OpenAI; and RevenueCat) may process information outside your country under the safeguards they provide for such transfers.

The App may rely on the following services as described above. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies:
