A Hebrew Listening Game You Play With Your Ears
Hebrew Falafel Stand is a free Hebrew listening game you play online. You run a small stand, customers order in Hebrew, and you make what you heard. A day takes two or three minutes, so you can play one between other things.
Every new word gets a card with niqqud, English and audio before you hear it in an order. Earn up to three stars for each stop on the map.
How Hebrew Falafel Stand Works
Listen to the order
A customer walks up and orders out loud in Hebrew. Replay it as often as you like, or open the words if you get stuck.
Build it on the plate
Choose the bread, then tap the fillings, chips and drinks. Tile labels fade as you learn each word, so your ear does more of the work.
Ring the bell
A right order makes a happy customer. A wrong one gets a spoken correction, the wrong item is marked, and you fix the plate and serve again.
Why It Works
The Order Arrives by Ear
Each order is heard first, so you cannot solve it by reading. You answer with an action, by building what you understood, and there is no list of options to guess from.
Small Words Change the Order
With or without, small or large, one portion or three: a single word changes the plate. That trains you to catch the short words that are easy to miss in real speech.
Mistakes Come Back
Items you miss return in later orders of the same day, and a right answer counts most when you get it on the first serve without opening the words.
Eight Customers, Many Voices
Women and men, young and old, each with a voice of their own. You learn to follow the same words from different speakers, not one voice you have memorised.
What You'll Learn
The Market teaches the stand itself: pita and laffa, falafel, hummus and fried eggplant, tahini, salad, pickles and amba, plus עִם (with) and בְּלִי (without). The Beach adds water, lemonade and chips, portions, small and large, and polite phrases. Each world has four days and a Rush Hour that brings it all together.
The game trains understanding, not speaking. The words are the 27 on its word cards, in short orders. For reading, grammar and wider vocabulary, continue in the HebrewEdu app.
Who It's For
Hebrew Falafel Stand is for adult and teen beginners who can follow Hebrew on the page but struggle to catch it by ear, and for children playing with a parent. You don't need to read Hebrew to start. Frequently Asked Questions
Is Hebrew Falafel Stand free?
Yes. It runs in your browser with no account, download or payment.
What Hebrew does it teach?
Short spoken food orders: fillings, drinks and sides, with and without, also, portions, sizes, and polite phrases such as אֶפְשָׁר and בְּבַקָּשָׁה. Each new word has a card with niqqud, English and audio.
Do I need to read Hebrew?
No. Orders are spoken, and tiles have pictures, with labels while a word is new. To learn the letters themselves, try Alef Bet Rush.
Can I lose?
No. There are no lives and no timer, and a wrong order simply gets a correction so you can serve it again. Stars show how well a day went.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Hold your phone upright and tap the tiles. On a computer, click them. Turn your sound on, because the orders are spoken.
Is the audio recorded by a native speaker?
No. The customers are synthesized Hebrew voices, each matched to the gender of the character.
